The 22nd Annual Zucchini Car Races were held August 19th at Sebastiani Winery in Sonoma, CA. As each person submitted their entry, folks were busy checking out their competition both for creativity and the potential for speed on the racetrack. The judges were taking a close look and making their decisions for the most creative entries.
Excitement mounted as the heats progressed; some race cars flying smoothly down the track, others crashing half way down. There was loud cheering from the crowd for each one.
Once again, Sonoma Valley Certified Farmers’ Market manager, Hilda Swartz, created a fun evening for everyone……a great way to use the abundance of zucchini that appears every year!
There were 32 entries in all. Each entry was a winner in our book. Here are a few pictures of the most creative race cars. Put your thinking caps on for next year’s Zucchini Car Races! See you there!
